Balancing Roles as a Mom, Wife, and Reseller

Balancing motherhood, marriage, and a reselling business can be challenging, but with careful planning, prioritization, and self-care, it’s absolutely achievable. Here are some practical tips that have helped me manage my day-to-day life while growing my reselling business:

1. Start Your Day with Intention

  • Morning Quiet Time: I wake up 15-30 minutes before the kids to enjoy a cup of coffee and plan my day. This little pocket of “me time” can set a positive tone for the day.
  • Family Connection: I spend the first hour of the day focused on my kids and spouse—help with breakfast, pack lunches, and send everyone off with love. These small moments of connection matter to me.

2. Work Smarter, Not Harder

  • Use Nap Times or School Hours: My youngest still naps and my older kids are in school, so I use that time to focus on my reselling business. Even an hour or two of focused work can make a big difference.
  • Multitask Wisely: For example, if I’m waiting at soccer practice, I use that time to respond to customer messages or brainstorm new ideas for my business.

3. Involving My Kids (When Possible)

  • Make It Fun: When the kids are curious about my reselling business, I let them “help” in small ways. They can sort items, stick on labels, or even help me take photos. I try to turn it into a game or a learning experience.
  • Teach Them About Work Ethic: I let them see me working hard and pursuing my goals. It’s a great way to model determination and creativity.

4. Lean on The Spouse

  • Teamwork Makes the Dream Work: I sit down with my spouse and talk about goals for my reselling business. He takes over bedtime routines a few nights a week so I can focus on shipping orders or listing new items.
  • Date Nights: Even if it’s just a movie night at home after the kids are in bed, my husband and I make time to connect. A strong partnership makes everything else easier.

5. Create a Family-Friendly Workspace

  • Dedicated Space: I have a small corner at home for my reselling business. I keep it organized so I can jump in and out of work quickly. Storage bins are a lifesaver!
  • Kid-Friendly Zone: I have created a little “activity station” nearby for my kids. I stock it with coloring books, puzzles, or quiet toys so they can play while I work.

6. Be Kind to Yourself

  • Let Go of Guilt: Some days, the house will be messy, or I’ll order pizza instead of cooking. That’s okay! I’m doing my best, and that’s more than enough.
  • Celebrate Small Wins: Shipped three orders today, that’s awesome! Managed to get the kids to bed on time, that’s a win! Let’s celebrate those little victories—they add up.

7. Sample Personalized Routine

Here’s an example of how my day might look, you can tailor it to your life as a mom, wife and a reseller:

  • 6:30 AM – 8:30 AM: Morning chaos (but the good kind)! Get the kids up, fed, and off to school. I sneak in a hug or a silly joke to start the day with a smile.
  • 9:00 AM – 11:00 AM: Focus on my reselling business. List new items, take photos, or pack orders. My youngest is home, so I let her “help” or play nearby.
  • 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM: Take a break to play with my little one, run errands, or tackle a quick household chore.
  • 12:00 PM – 1:00 PM: Lunch and a little downtime. Maybe catch up on social media or scroll through reselling groups for inspiration.
  • 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM: More work time or errands. If the kids are home, I involve them in light tasks or set them up with an activity.
  • 3:00 PM – 5:00 PM: After-school chaos (snacks, homework, activities). I use this time to connect with my kids and hear about their day.
  • 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM: Dinner and family time. Keeping meals simple—slow cooker recipes or one-pan meals are my best friends.
  • 7:00 PM – 8:00 PM: Bedtime routines. I have my spouse handle storytime while I wrap up a few business tasks.
  • 8:00 PM – 9:00 PM: Relaxing with my spouse or I take a little time for myself. Watch a show, read a book, or just sit in silence—We’ve earned it!

8. Remember Your “Why”

  • For My Family: I’m building this business to provide for my family and create opportunities for them. I Keep this in mind when things feel overwhelming.
  • For Myself: My reselling business is also my thing—a creative outlet and a way to feel accomplished outside of being a mom and wife. I try not to lose sight of that.

So to all the moms running a business from home, you’re juggling a lot but capable of so much. Take it one day at a time, and don’t forget to give yourself grace. You’ve got this, mamas! 💪💖
